Strictly at Middleton

Moira and Ian enthralled our whole school with our very own Strictly Come Dancing today. Wonderful

Our third Big Cycle

Today we had fantastic weather for our Big Cycle. In the morning P4-7 cycled to Scotstown Moor for a glorious morning of cycling in the sunshine. Lots of parents and staff cycled with us together with Rachael our iBike Officer, Sustrans team and Scott and Shane, City Wardens. Younger children also came with a parent helper.

What I love best is the enthusiasm, resilience and encouragement of our pupils. They just keep smiling, pedalling and cheering each other on.

In the afternoon it’s our P1-3 classes who cycle or scoot a one mile loop. It’s a long way for little legs and small hills are huge when you’re only 5!  But once again they smile and cheer and are determined to keep going.

All day in the playground we are very lucky to have the Get About team with a myriad of go-carts, trikes, scooters, unicycles, penny farthings and bikes!  Every child from Nursery to P7 has a session trying out new bikes.  Our staff are there having a go and as always go the extra mile to make sure everyone is included.

Our parents turn out in force to cycle, marshal and cheer! It’s our school at its best – roll on next year!

New Session

I’m looking forward to our new session and welcoming back all our staff, pupils and parents for new adventures at Middleton Park School.  This is the first time we have re-visited a whole school context and I’ve enjoyed looking at the blog we created three years ago around Wars.  I know our pupils will take their learning in new directions around the context of Wars and that creativity, the outdoors, pupil led learning and a buzz of excitement will fill the school.  We’ve been invited to share our curriculum model at upcoming Education Scotland events which will be a privilege to do.
